Playing music that has many advantages. Recent studies have shown that playing a musical instrument can reduce the effects arising from the aging process and makes it always feel young.
The researchers found that 45-65 year-old musician who will excel in terms of memory and the ability to hear the speech of others even in noisy conditions than non-musicians. Besides playing music also reduces some negative effects of the aging process.
"Training for life playing music can provide benefits at least to the two functions of the body that will decline with age," says Nina Kraus, director of the Auditory Neuroscience Laboratory at Northwestern University, USA, as quoted from Dailymail, Friday (12/05/2011).
Kraus said that difficulty hearing sounds in a noisy atmosphere is one of the most common complaints from people who are old. This condition will interfere with social activities and can trigger depression.
The study involved 18 people musicians and 19 non-musicians who are aged 45-65 years, by testing the auditory memory, visual memory, auditory processing and speech in noise.
The musicians who began playing musical instruments at age 9 years or earlier and consistently throughout his life will live better in almost all of the tested than non-musicians.
"When working with sound will involve all the thought that regulate physical memory should always be sharpened, thereby playing music can combat the problem of age-related communications," said Kraus.
For that person who always play music or a musician will be spared from the negative effects that arise as we age, which makes this condition will always feel young. The results of this study have been published in the online scientific journal PLoS One.
